Bill & Susan

Susan has a colourful life, especially when Bill’s had a few
And he makes her eyes look black and blue
And the split lip starts the red blood flow
That had only healed a week ago
And he grabs her by her once blonde hair
And tries to throw her down the stairs
Alas, still young, she’s turned quite grey
Another price she has to pay
For staying here and taking this strife,
This loving, terrified, lonely wife.
And do you know what happens tomorrow?
He talks of remorse, pain and sorrow.
He’s sorry, he’ll change, he loves her, don’t go.
It won’t happen again, he loves her so.
She listens and trembles and dares to hope
Because she’s reached a wall and cannot cope.
